Get Your Jig On — and win tickets to Bestival

This year to promote BLT we’ve set up ‘Get Your Jig On’, an online competition calling on all music and dance fans to submit videos of their best dance moves. Impress us and you could take home the ultimate festival package.

We don’t care how brilliant or how rubbish your moves are, we want to see them and there’s a category for everyone:

  • Dad Dancing

    Dr Peter Lovatt, a psychologist at the University of Hertfordshire says dad dancing is the result of evolution, but we just think it’s bad form. Show us how bad with your best rolling arms and awkward jutting hips. You could dress up in a tweed number and spectacles or even get your Dad (or Mum) dancing on your behalf; that would be brilliant.

  • I Can’t Dance But I’m Doing It For Charity

    This is your chance to wiggle without concern, all boogies welcome. This one’s for the cause and we salute you for giving it your best.

  • Fancy Footwork

    The glee club for dancers – anything goes; break dancing, ballet, tap, street dance or just the serious moves you’re used to pulling out on a Saturday night. We want to be impressed.

The prizes — and the dance-off

The three finalists, one from each category, will be invited to the Brick Lane Takeover, VIP style! This will include:

  • Hotel accommodation for you and a mate
  • Two tickets to the BLT
  • Two tickets to the exclusive BLT After Party
  • Rough Trade Music Package including exclusive CDs

How to enter

Getting your jig on is as easy as 1, 2, 3, 4

  1. Film your dance moves (10-30 seconds long) on a mobile phone (or whatever you have handy)
  2. Upload to YouTube
  3. Fill in the short form
  4. Wait to hear if you have won our Ultimate Festival Package

Closing date – 11.59pm Thursday 10 June.
Finalists announced - Monday 14 June.
